Meet Our Team

Trey Walters, P.E.
Trey Walters, P.E.President, Principal Consultant, and ASME Fellow
In 1993, Mr. Walters founded Applied Flow Technology (AFT) after previously working with Babcock & Wilcox in Ohio and General Dynamics in California. At AFT, he was the lead developer for the software tools AFT Fathom, AFT Arrow and AFT Impulse and has been heavily involved in the development of all other AFT software tools brought to market. For Purple Mountain, Mr. Walters has utilized his fundamental understanding of fluid dynamics, performing and managing many consulting projects in the areas of fluid and thermal system modeling. Example projects include a cooling water system flow analysis, benchmarking at a pharmaceutical plant and a waterhammer analysis at a refined product tank farm. Mr. Walters has both M.S. and B.S. degrees in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California at Santa Barbara and is a Registered P.E. in the state of California.
Jeff Olsen
Jeff OlsenVice President and Principal Consultant
In 1996, Mr. Olsen began work with Applied Flow Technology after previously working with ESSCOR and General Dynamics in California, bringing with him a strong analytical and thermodynamic background. Mr. Olsen’s primary responsibilities at AFT are to continue development of existing fluid flow and thermodynamic software products and to initiate development of new products. For Purple Mountain, Mr. Olsen has worked on several consulting projects including waterhammer analysis of the water deluge system at Kennedy Space Center, developing a large scale model of a hospital chilled water system with 20 pumps, and optimizing a 145-km high-pressure sea water injection pipeline for an oil field that saved the customer over US$100 million. Mr. Olsen has both M.S. and B.S. degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Brigham Young University.
Dylan Witte, E.I.T.
Dylan Witte, E.I.T.Project Manager
Dylan has acted as the project manager and engineer for numerous consulting projects related to fluid network hydraulics and waterhammer analysis. Dylan’s portfolio includes work throughout the USA, Canada, and Europe. Sample projects include a high pressure water pipeline waterhammer analysis that required surge anticipation control valves, a surge analysis import/export terminal of crude oil requiring a unique valve closure strategy, and modeling the district cooling network for the downtown area of Chicago. Dylan attends international conferences in the hydraulics industry and presented at the BHR Pressure Surges 2018 conference in Bordeaux, France. Dylan has a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines.
